I don't know if there should be less snakes, as this looks kinda busy, and is distracting the viewer a little.

And I know that you pixel gods have an obsession with few clolours, but in this case, I would feel that there needs some kind of accent to the part that is most impotant in the image. At the moment, I would assume that it is the eye, but colour wise it is the exatly same...
I see this image as more of a design than a picture, so the array of snakes seems to me to be the point of the piece and therefore the business is essential and not distracting.

Regarding the colours, again I think a limited palette works in this case (I personally don't have an obsession with limited number of colours) - making the eye itself a different colour would probably make it stand out too much.

At the end of the day, especially with palettised images, mucking about with the colours is easy - I'd prefer to see the image finished before making up my mind on the exact palette.

Andy

Thanks everyone

Andy: Heehee, it was quite annoying--but one thing I like about pixelling is that it forces me to finish things... if I had been painting this normally I probably would haven't have bothered to do so many either

Ezach: The colours are definitely not finalized yet, but I think I'm going to go for more coppery yellows and reds rather than pure green, but the yellows have a hint of green in them

Nik: All your points are fair . Some of them will be addressed as I work along on this, I hope, as I think a lot of the crit has to do with the lack of shading. For instance, I plan on there being a lot of shadows and texture on the snakes (if I can figure out how to do it ), which should cause the eye to pop out in contrast. Like Andy said, the busyness is the main idea behind the picture, as I wanted her to look a bit swallowed up by snakes . As for the eye itself, I went with the interpretation of Medusa as a monster with a beautiful face... so I did try to make her look cold yet "hot" .

Nick: Now how did you know Medusa was a noodle-chef in her spare time?

I really love what you did with the snakes. They look realistic. You are amazing and I can't wait to see the finished pic.

You guys are too nice

It's not taking me as long as I expected (although I'm sure I'll start lagging soon)... I'm hoping to have this finished by the end of the weekend

Thanks Afflict

Here it is a little further along... I'm planning on adding some colder tones (blue or greenish colours) in the shadows for some extra interest

Mash, I have got to say that I am amazed. The shading on those snakes just make her feel 3D. I really am just blown away.

I feel like I need to turn away before I am turned to stone.
